1 month

Eleanor is 1 month old already. She is an easy going baby and as a result we have quickly adjusted to being parents of two. She just seems to fit right in to our family. Eleanor has been a great eater from the beginning and quickly grew out of size newborn clothes. To our surprise, she already weighs 9 pounds 9 ounces.

At 1 month old, Eleanor...
is smiling.
eats every 2-3 hours throughout the day and night.
loves being held and having her bottom patted.
enjoys sucking on a pacifier.
spends a lot of her time nestled against her mommy.
likes going on walks outside.
receives a lot of attention from her big sister.

Happy Anniversary!

We celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary as any couple parenting two small children would...with dinner out at 4:45pm at a child friendly pizzeria.  Evelyn loves pizza and enjoyed sharing Ari's My Sha-Roni pizza with him. I enjoyed the Margherita pizza while juggling a 4 week old in my arms. Romantic?... No. But the food was delicious and the company delightful and I simply wouldn't have had it any other way.

Big Sister Club

Evelyn was welcomed into the Big Sister Club with an informal ceremony (play date) and reception (pizza lunch) orchestrated by her good friend Lucy. Lucy has been a big sister to her little brother, Max, for 19 months and has been a mentor to Evelyn from the beginning. Lucy has successfully prepared Evelyn for her new role as big sister to Eleanor. Thanks to Lucy, Evelyn now has big sister stickers and nail polish too. In preparation for big sisterhood, Evelyn has read the Big Sister Handbook upwards of 100 times and understands that big sisters get to do some cool things that baby brothers and sisters can't do... like "eat pizza and apples and ice cream."

I'm a big sister!

Evelyn has been eager to be a big sister from day one. She seemed to understand from the beginning that mommy was growing a baby in her tummy and eventually the baby would come out and join our family. Evelyn would often rub my belly and talk to the baby (and in the final days of pregnancy we begged for the baby to come out soon).

When she heard that the baby had finally arrived she squealed with excitement. The day she had been waiting for had finally come. The moment that Evelyn met Eleanor was truly special. We know that that this is the beginning of a life long friendship.

"She's so pretty isn't she?"

Evelyn adores Eleanor and is very loving and gentle. The first thing Evelyn wants to do upon waking in the morning is go and see her baby sister. She is eager to help with baby cares (changing diapers, choosing Ellie's clothing for the day, etc.) and sooth Ellie when she cries (often suggesting she needs mommy's milk or needs her teddy bear). Evelyn loves to hold Eleanor and look at her tiny fingers and toes...and of course, give her lots of kisses.

Introducing Eleanor Ann

On April 27th at 4:25 p.m. we welcomed our second daughter, Eleanor Ann, into our family. She arrived the day before her due date after a long labor and smooth delivery. She shares a birthday with her great grandma Pearl. Her birth weight was 6 pounds, 10 ounces and she was 20.5 inches long. After just 24 hours in the hospital we were able to take our sweet little baby home. Big sister Evelyn adores her little sister Eleanor.
