2 months old

Our beautiful Eleanor is such a happy baby. She has become very social and interactive and loves to watch her sister play, sing, jump and dance. When she is not socializing, Eleanor spends her time sleeping or eating. She has transitioned from a tiny newborn into a robust infant. Eleanor currently weighs 11 pounds, 6 ounces and is 23 inches long.

At 2 months old, Eleanor...
wakes 1-2 times at night to eat.
smiles and coos.
has developed excellent head control.
loves taking baths.
likes being outside and going on walks.
bears weight on her legs.
gladly takes a pacifier, especially when she is sleepy.
is ticklish on her feet.

Best baby gear

We have a lot of baby gear in our house... a swing, bouncy seat, play mat, etc., all of which have been helpful in caring for our little girls. However, the one item (aside from our carseat) I could not live without would hands down be our Baby Bjorn infant carrier. It has been my saving grace on more than one occasion...

it allows me to carry Eleanor (when she just doesn't want to be put down) and be hands free to cook, clean, brush my teeth, grocery shop, do laundry, and tend to Evelyn. The Bjorn goes with me on most outings, allowing me to carry Eleanor while I push Evelyn in the stroller.

Lately, when Eleanor is unhappy I can easily calm her by putting her in the Bjorn and stepping outside. She instantly stops crying and looks around at her surroundings. Thank you Baby Bjorn!!

Many people ask us if Eleanor looks like Evelyn did as a baby. Others exclaim that the girls look so much alike. As a fresh newborn I didn't think that Eleanor looked much like her big sister, but as Eleanor has gotten older I am definitely seeing more similarities between the sisters. I was taking some pictures of Eleanor on my phone the other day and her facial expressions reminded me so much of Evelyn's at that age. So I searched through our extensive photo collection and came across these baby pictures of Evelyn. You can definitely tell the girls are related.

Perfect patient

Evelyn had her second set of ear tubes placed and an adenoidectomy due to concern for ongoing mild hearing loss. She did great! We were pleased that she adhered without complaint to not eating for hours before the procedure. She was pleasant with her nurses and cooperated with the pre-operative preparation. Evelyn enjoyed the special pajamas she got to wear, the fun toys available for her entertainment, and the juice she was allowed to drink after the surgery was complete. The procedure was quick and we were in and out of the surgery center within 4 hours. Once home, Evelyn lounged around watching movies for a few hours and then was back to her old self... eating, drinking, and playing. She slept well that night and had no complaints of pain. What a trooper.

Grand Old Days

We joined our friends Baxter, Katie, and Kiernan at Grand Old Days in St. Paul. We arrived just in time to see the end of the parade and then head straight over to the Family Fun District. Evelyn had a great time getting her face painted, riding a pony, jumping in the bouncy house, and visiting the animals at the petting zoo. Eleanor slept through it all.

Evelyn 2.5

Evelyn continues to be a little sponge and learns new things each and every day. She is healthy, active, and as sweet as can be. Here is an update on what Evelyn is up to these days...

At 2.5 years old, Evelyn...
weighs 27 pounds and is 36 inches tall.
she is potty trained and loves wearing panties.
talks in complete sentences and even a little Spanglish.
identifies the letters of the alphabet and numbers too.
has an amazing memory for names.
loves the Disney princesses, especially Sleeping Beauty.
sings songs constantly and often makes up her own lyrics.
likes to stay up late despite our reasonable bedtime.
enjoys wearing her swimsuit around the house.
rides a tricycle.
prefers to choose her own clothing.
declares that her favorite color is blue.
